Breaking all the rules – this is the spirit of RAE’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection Colourful Cocktail. Exploring every creative energy, founder and designer Andrea Giunta went for it. From kimonos with matching shorts and bikinis to jeans, every piece breathes liveliness and radiance. Nearly doubling the collection in size, the 5th season by RAE is significant.
It’s in the name, Colourful Cocktail is an explosion of colours and the collection took on its own life as the designer journeyed into the world of vegan cupro and vegan viscose fabrics. “I was amazed by the textures and performance of these sustainable fibers; the touch and feel, the durability. Designing for me is about creating a desirable and wearable product that can be worn many times, over and over again. The nature and quality of textiles such as vegan cupro and vegan viscose inspired me in my design process. Cashmere is another fabric that I again have used a lot. Personally, I’m addicted to cashmere. It gives such an effortless stylish look to the pieces”.
The color palette is diverse ranging from neon yellow, coral, mint, gold and lilac. With prints called Electric, Bloom, Summer, Palm, Ziggy and Ibiza, some of the prints were even designed from tiles from Andrea’s favorite hotel in Ibiza.
The shades of the RAE sweat collection are inspired by Miami Vice. Fun and lightweight sweat pieces in white, peach, lilac, cream and mint hues.
The SS22 season introduces new silhouettes. New to the range is the Maud in silky cupro, a sleeveless jumpsuit with a waist drawstring to create a flattering fit. The collection also brings back favored styles like the Pia dress and the Gabrielle skirt, recurring in design but updated in new viscose prints and cotton stripe patterns.
