The popular Norwegian leisurewear brand Onepiece experienced incredible traffic to their web shop onepiece.com after Kylie Jenner and her mother Kris Jenner posted pictures of themselves in the brand’s jumpsuits along with $25 discount codes.
Combined, the two have more than 90 million followers on their social media. CEO and Co-founder at Onepiece.com Thomas Adams stated that the website had more than a million page views in the hours after the posts went out. “We were expecting a lot of traffic, but to be honest, we did not expect this much. Our servers did not stand a chance. The website crashed immediately after the post went out as more than 100,000 people tried to enter the web shop within 30 seconds – this is equivalent to a large Norwegian city.”
“We are based in Norway, which is 9 hours ahead of LA, so the posts went out late at night our time. We had to call and wake up all of our tech people and the development team to work on getting the servers back up. They worked on maintaining the servers during the night and got them performing stably again after a few hours”, Adams explains.
