IVY LEE BELGIUM – BOSS x PHIPPS: INTRODUCING NEW ICONS

A MORE SUSTAINABLE TWIST ON AMERICANA: INTRODUCING NEW ICONS FROM BOSS X PHIPPS

BOSS and PHIPPS have come together to launch a new genderless collection that celebrates the brands’ shared appreciation for craft, quality, and sustainability.

The collaboration features pieces that fans of PHIPPS will recognize: oversized T-shirts and sweaters, including trippy tie-dye effects and purposely provocative slogans (“Don’t Cross the BOSS”), and technical wear crafted from mixed fabrics. In terms of color, the garments take their cues from nature – combining earthy tones like moss green and stone with pops of lilac and aqua blue. In addition, some styles display a custom logo that features both brands’ names and an eagle motif – giving the collection a distinct sense of vintage Americana.

I’m incredibly proud of this collaboration,” says Marco Falcioni, Senior Vice President Creative Direction for HUGO BOSS. “Our values are very much aligned – even if our aesthetics are different. As brands, we both want to pave a more sustainable way forward in an industry which is still creating too much waste.”

Indeed, the unique part about the capsule is how it came about. From the beginning, BOSS and PHIPPS set about finding inventive ways to save resources. The collection is crafted using more responsible materials and leftover fabrics from the BOSS archives. Some pieces even take sustainable processes one step further: the capsule includes a cargo short and bucket hat created using leftover cotton suits from the brand’s storage.

This is the latest in a series of boundary-pushing moves for the BOSS brand, which has recently undergone a complete identity overhaul. “This is the first time we’ve ever worked with another fashion designer,” says Falcioni. “I love what we’ve managed to create. Our clashing aesthetics create a beautiful contradiction– one that has environmental responsibility at its heart.” Spencer Phipps himself adds: “BOSS opened up its archives and allowed me to do what I love – create clothes with a conscious that lead the industry into a new and more responsible future.”

The first drop of BOSS x PHIPPS will be available starting May 25th online at hugoboss.com.
