BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN – UND BREATHE

UND BREATHE

April 20 2020: Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, and to highlight the importance of clean air, Baum und Pferdgarten has created a capsule of organic cotton pieces which will support the NGO Green Transition Denmark, part of Clean Air Europe.

The capsule consists of 8 pieces including 4 dresses, 1 top and 1 skirt in crisp cotton poplin and 2 t-shirts in cotton jersey. All pieces are made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton and feature the Cloudy Blue Sky print, a nod to one of our most important and precious commodities – the air we breathe.

For every piece of the capsule sold on Baum und Pferdgarten’s website during 2020, Baum und Pferdgarten will donate €10 to the NGO Green Transition Denmark, a member of the umbrella organisation Clean Air Europe.

We want to raise awareness around air pollution – but also keep focused on the solutions available. Our industry has a huge impact on the environment and we need to continuously revisit all aspects of our supply chain. Some of our main areas of focus are transitioning to lower impact transportation methods wherever possible and putting pressure on our manufacturers to switch to renewable energy sources. Step by step we are moving towards a more sustainable fashion industry.” – Rikke Baumgarten & Helle Hestehave, Creative Directors.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading standard for organic fibres which includes both ecological and social criteria, and critically, involves the entire textile supply chain. As well as using less water and no pesticides or other harmful chemicals, all workers are ensured safe working conditions and a fair wage.

The Cloudy Blue Sky print has been printed digitally which is a more sustainable solution than traditional printing methods. Digital printing uses less water and energy, and uses less dye with minimal wastage, plus no development of physical screens is required.

The capsule collection is a natural extension of Baum und Pferdgarten’s focus on striving to become more responsible in all aspects of its operations. The aim is to continuously reduce the negative environmental impact of each collection. 40% of the Spring/Summer 2020 collection was sourced from responsible fibres and with their recently debuted Autumn/ Winter 2020 collection, launching this summer, this number has increased to 50%. All responsible pieces come with an extra swing tag and are marked online with a dedicated icon.

The UND BREATHE capsule is on display at the IVY LEE showroom in Antwerp, and available for sample pulls. Please have a look on our imagebank for high res images of the 8 pieces.
